In a world that rarely slows down, the Linhay is a place where time stretches gently and days seem longer. Tucked beneath the trees, down a winding track in our peaceful North Devon valley, this little off-grid escape invites you to press pause – and truly unwind.
Here, it’s not about doing more. It’s about doing less and feeling more.
Start slow, stay slow
There’s no rush in the valley. Wake naturally to birdsong, stretch in your own time, and savour a quiet cuppa with nothing but the rustle of the trees for company. The morning might take you no further than the riverside deck, yoga mat unfurled, breathing deeply as the stream flows gently nearby.
Moments made to linger
Slow living at the Linhay is about leaning into life’s simplest pleasures – mindful wanders through wildflower meadows, a good book swaying in a hammock, or warm scones enjoyed with a view of the woods.
Our hens provide the freshest eggs for breakfast, and there’s something quietly grounding about cooking a meal with simple ingredients, eaten outside or by lantern light with no distractions.
Tune into nature
Take time to really notice the natural world around you – the butterflies dancing through the meadow, the whisper of the breeze in the beech trees, the birds flitting busily between the feeders. Let the gentle rhythms of the valley reset your own.
Wander without a plan, dip your toes in the stream, lie on the deck and watch the clouds drift by. Let each moment be enough.
Evenings made for magic
As dusk falls, light the fire pit, wrap yourself in a blanket and listen to the owls call through the woods. With no light pollution, our skies are wonderfully dark – perfect for a little stargazing before bed. There's something unforgettable about sitting out under the vastness of the night sky, your world reduced to flickering flames and the hush of the valley.
