DOGS WELCOME

The perfect dog friendly Devon escape, dogs are very welcome in The Linhay. With North Devon's dog friendly beaches nearby and beautiful country walks from your door and Butterhills' stream meadow and woodland to explore... It's the ideal holiday for you and your dog.

DOGS VERY WELCOME

It's very important to us that your four legged friend has a wonderful holiday too. The Linhay is private and secluded with no other people around, just yourselves and your dog so you can all relax completely. There's a great view of the wildlife and bird feeder from the big French windows, plenty of delicious sniffs to be had in the woodland and stream meadow and a little river for paddling & drinking from.

On cooler days, after an exhausting time accompanying their humans on beach and country walks, they can curl up in front of the cosy wood burner and of course there's the outdoor option of the firepit all year round.

Places to go with your dog

You'll find plenty of pubs where dogs are welcome including our two local pubs - The Crown at West Down and The Ebrington Arms at Knowle. You can walk to both as they are just a mile and a half away. Our Touch Stay digital guide has a section with details of dog friendly days out and includes restaurants and pubs where your dog will be welcome.

Dog Friendly Beaches

On Saunton, Putsborough, Woolacombe, Broadsands, Hele Bay and Lee Bay dogs are allowed all year round. There are designated areas for dogs on Saunton, Putsborough and Woolacombe but in all honesty they have a huge amount of beach to choose from - the dog restricted areas are tiny in comparison! Dogs are allowed on Croyde beach itself from the 1st of October until the 30th of April and at other times they can be walked on the Dunes which sit above the beach.

What we provide

In the Linhay you will find a throw for the sofa, dog towel and food bowls, outside a water bowl and tether. There's no formal fenced area so, for those cheeky pups with a tendency for independent wanderings, the tether is a great solution. For mucky pups there's a a tap by the parking area for a quick rinse off and we also have a large dog crate you can borrow if needed (it's not super posh but it does the job!)

To help make holidays enjoyable for everyone there are a few things we ask:
Please…

  • Ensure your dog has been wormed and had tick & flea treatment. If they have a tendency to shed hair please make sure they pack their grooming kit too.

  • Clean up after your dog - where possible use the ‘stick and flick’ method flicking the poo away from paths and places where it might get stepped in or children may play with a stick. If you prefer to pick up with a poo bag then please ensure it is bio-degradable. We don't have facilities for dog poo disposal so it would be helpful if you would take it with you on a trip out and place the bag in one of the many poo bins around the area.

  • Keep your dogs under strict control (on a lead if necessary) at all times around the Linhay, the stream meadow, woods and in fields where there are wildlife and farm animals.

  • Don't leave your dog unattended in The Linhay at any time.

  • Please keep your dog off the furniture, if you need additional throws and dog towels then please ask us.

  • Please do not allow your dog on the mezzanine and definitely not on or in the bed or sofabed.
