EXPLORE
BUTTERHILLS

Immerse yourself in nature, take time to breathe and re-connect with your loved ones in this unspoilt slice of Devon heaven! Space is guaranteed when you stay in the Linhay, space to think, space to wander and to wonder. Space to explore, space to just be...

Your Private Space in Nature

Dip your toes in the river, explore the wildflower meadows. Take early morning woodland walks as the birds are singing and the sun is peaking through the branches of ancient oak trees. Relax in the riverside glade at dusk as the bats swoop above.

Yoga & Picnic Deck

Your onw private riverside yoga deck for your sun salutations and meditation, immersed in nature. A bench by the babbling stream to relax and hammocks for you to watch the wheeling buzzards in the sky or enjoy the huge star-fields of our wonderful dark night skies.

Firepits & Star-fields

Draw your chair up to the firepit of an evening to toast marshmallows and tell tall tales or snuggle into the rustic shelter filled with twinkling fairy lights and listen to the owls calling throughout the woods and valley.

However you choose to spend your time in the Linhay, you are very welcome to enjoy our wonderful valley at Butterhills which extends to 30 acres. It includes 10 acres of ancient oak woodland, the beautiful stream meadow in front of the Linhay, a riverside glade, two further wildflower meadows (Lower Fox & Little Fox) as well as Granny's meadow above the woods.

Freedom to Explore

We will let you know whether there is livestock grazing in any of the fields during your stay. They are not allowed in the wood or riverside glade which is exclusively for our guests use.

If you have a dog with you, please be aware that they may encounter wildlife including deer, rabbits and ground nesting birds. Dogs are very welcome to be off lead, but we do ask that they be kept under control at all times.
