Cycling Holidays in North Devon

Explore Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe and Exmoor National park on two wheels. Bring your bikes with you or hire from the many local bike hire companies.

If you'd like for some easy cycling with great views and places to eat, The level Tarka Trail follows the route of the old railway running along the river Taw estuary from Braunton, past Barnstaple to Bideford then heads inland along the river Torridge to Torrington and on towards Meeth. You can hire bikes at various points – Chivenor, Barnstaple, Fremington Quay & Bideford – giving you easy, traffic free cycling for short distances or as much as 30 miles (60 miles return!) with plenty of opportunities to stop for a picnic, and lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants to enjoy along the way.

If you fancy exploring the coast or would like to tackle some more hilly rides how about hiring e-bijkes from Waterside Bike Hire just outside of Braunton? It’s so much easier for you to make the climbs and enjoy the views with the assistance that e-bikes give. A great way to explore the countryside and our beautiful deep Devon lanes.

Waterside Bike Hire's location at Chivenor gives you great access to the Tarka Trail and they're also close to the popular Waterside Cafe. Grab a coffee before your ride, or have a well earned cake and tea after.

The hills of North Devon can offer spectacular challenges for the committed cyclist with several cycling sportives taking place throughout the year and the many green lanes are ideal for off-road mountain biking.

Fancy some guided cycle rides on an e-bike? Tour de Lanes accompanied rides are focused on cycling around the North Devon lanes and being immersed in its stunning diverse landscapes, from Coast to Countryside, surrounded by Nature. Electric bike hire is included along with cycle helmets if you need them.
