Coronavirus & Health Procedures

It has been a long haul for everyone over the past 2 years, we worked hard to ensure that we could reopen safely for guests, ourselves and the local community. There are a few changes we have had to make to what we provide and the way we do things but with our your help we’re confident that you can enjoy a wonderful relaxing, stress-free, happy escape in our magical valley, away from the sometimes crazy world outside it.

We have completed a detailed COVID-19 risk assessment and put in place enhanced cleaning protocols, slight changes to our operational procedures, and social distancing measures, in line with current guidelines, to protect both our guests and ourselves.

Enhanced cleaning procedures

The well-being of our guests is always at the forefront of our minds and following the Coronavirus outbreak this has become even more important.

We are following all up to date environmental health department guidelines when cleaning and preparing the Linhay.

The products that we use have been chosen to ensure they are effective against the Covid 19 virus yet are still as kind to the environment as possible in line with our Green Credentials. In addition to our usual Method and Ecover cleaners we are using Eco Marine sanitiser which complies with EN standard 17446 for eliminating viruses and is marine and environment friendly. It is also important that cleaning products don't disrupt the delicate eco-balance in our sewage treatment plant or damage the natural materials in the Linhay.

All our bedlinen, personal towels, tea towels and cloths are laundered at a minimum of 60 degrees whist still using eco friendly (non bio) products for your personal comfort.

There will be hand sanitiser, hand wash and surface cleaner provided for your use. As there is no dishwasher in the Linhay there are also rubber gloves so that you can do the washing up at a high water temperature.

In return we ask that you strip and bag all bedlinen, towels and dishcloths at the end of your stay in the laundry bag provided and leave the windows open to air. By leaving the Linhay tidy with the rubbish bins emptied you're helping give us the extra time needed to clean and sanitise the Linhay thoroughly ready for our next guests. We are very grateful for your help with this as it has meant that we haven’t had to change our check in times.

A fab new online guest information guidebook

Our TouchStay guidebook app can be downloaded to your phone. This gives you all the information you need regarding the Linhay, Butterhills and exploring North Devon. It contains essential information about everything from lighting the wood burner, what to bring and what we provide to dog friendly pubs and the best beaches. Guests are invited to have a good read before they leave home as there are directions on how to get to us too! Once downloaded the information on the App can be accessed without WiFi or mobile data.

Book with confidence

These are uncertain times and so if your booking is affected by Government restrictions on travel because of Coronavirus then we would be very happy to rearrange your holiday dates. Future bookings are subject to the offer of postponement within 12 months, so you can book with confidence knowing your booking / monies will not be lost. Bookings rescheduled from one year to the next can be made at the original price but any difference in tariff band (i.e. if it's a more expensive or less expensive time of year) or length of stay will be adjusted accordingly and the difference charged or reimbursed as appropriate.

North Devon depends on tourism and is full of small businesses like ours so of course we would be delighted to welcome you another time. If for some reason you are unable to reschedule your holiday then we can offer you a refund on all monies paid less a £40 admin fee.

If you are unable to travel because you or one of your guests have tested positive for Covid19 and need to isolate then our standard terms and conditions with regards to cancellation will apply. In this instance we will do our best to re-sell your holiday and refund some or possibly all of your money less the £40 admin fee – the amount refunded will of course depend on how much we can rebook the Linhay for. We strongly recommend that you have appropriate holiday insurance cover in place.

Guests are also asked to…

Be honest about their health before and during their stay; practice good hygiene on your journey and whilst you are with us – there will be hand sanitiser in the Linhay and also by the fridge and charging points and it's a good idea to have some in the car.
