In a secluded valley location near Braunton, close to the North Devon coast & beaches, tucked in the lee of our ancient oak wood and overlooking the water meadow where the river Caen trickles by.

Your delightful off-grid escape is the ideal place for total relaxation, no traffic sounds just birdsong, the murmur of the river and the rustling of the leaves.

STONE BUILT LINHAY

Big starry skies at night with no light pollution, abundant wildlife, a stone-built linhay where you can relax and unwind, hot shower, flushing loo, cooking & dining (inside or out), log fires for lazy evenings in or campfires for nights under the stars.

When you're ready to explore, the beauty of North Devon is on your doorstep. Endless golden sandy beaches (Croyde, Saunton, Woolacombe & Putsborough), stunning Exmoor National Park and the South West Coast Path with its rugged coastline & amazing vistas.

DOG FRIENDLY BREAKS

Your dog is very welcome at Butterhills Escapes - with their well behaved owner of course! There are lovely woodland and meadow walks to explore with plenty of great sniffs and of course the stream to paddle or bathe in too. Nearly all of our local beaches welcome dogs all year round as well.

In the Linhay they'll find a dog towel, throw, bowls and a tether. For your own comfort and also to reduce wear and tear on the Linhay we usually allow up to 2 dogs 🐾 but could be flexible on this so do contact us.

RURAL RETREATS

For romantic hideaways or a family escape, take time to be together. Immerse yourselves in nature, explore the woodland trail, gather kindling for campfires, dip your toes in the river, find a secret spot to read a book.

See how many wildflowers you can name or butterflies you can identify. Build a den, thread yourself through the wishing tree, greet the morning sun as she shines down the stream meadow or savour her last rays as she departs at evening.

GREENER HOLIDAYS

Cook over a fire, picnic outdoors, walk to the village pub, bring your bikes and explore the hills and valleys, villages & coast. For more leisurely cycling the Tarka Trail is just 4 miles away offering miles of level cycling with gorgeous estuary & riverside views.
